Social skills: By sharing materials and collaborating on creative projects, children learn to take it in turns, negotiate and work as a team.
Cognitive development: From early sensory exploration (the feel of a crayon across paper, the smell of paint) and decision making (what to portray, what materials to use) to problem solving (how to get two materials to stick together), art teaches children to think for themselves. Self-expression: Art is a valuable form of language. A pre-cursor to written and verbal communication, it enables children to tell stories as well as expressing what they are thinking and feeling. Motor development: The small movements of the fingers, hands and wrists associated with holding a crayon or paintbrush, drawing, painting or manipulating clay develops the fine motor skills of young children while the large arm movements required for painting at an easel or on a large piece of paper on the floor develops large muscle groups. Inventiveness: When children are encouraged to experiment and take risks by trying new things during the creative process they develop a sense of innovation – a valuable skill in business and in life. Be aware of the background A plain background shows off the art you are photographing. When you look through the camera viewfinder, force yourself to study the area surrounding your subject. Make sure no carpet, tiles, or any other distracting background is showing. Also by default the image is always portrait so try landscape mode so that only subject is captured. Move in Close Your goal is to fill the picture area with the artwork you are photographing. Up close you can reveal telling details. But don't get too close or your pictures will be blurry. Avoid holding it Try to avoid holding the creation in your hands. Keep the subject the focus so there are no hands or other background showing. Ideally place the artwork on a flat dark or white background and click it that way the masterpiece remains the main subject! Also holding it sometime creates weird angles and can look really bad when you are ready to print. Use The Image Crop Feature If you do end up taking the photo showing background then just use the image crop feature to crop the background out and bring the focus back to the artwork. Choose good lighting
Pick a room with good lighting or use the flash option so there are no shadows showing on the artwork. |
